Odile

Odile took her own life on January 1, 2021, at the age of 50. She was found lifeless early in the morning on a beach in Toulon. He was pronounced dead at 12 p.m. This suicide takes place in a context of deterioration in the state of health and living conditions of Odile, which led her to this fatal outcome.

It emerges from the numerous testimonies of the numbers of her family, but also of her friendly and professional relations, that this woman saw her state of health, particularly on the psychological level, deteriorate considerably from the year 2010.

From that date, Odile had a relationship with H., whom she married on April 30, 2011. A dynamic of isolation of Odile from all of her relatives will then gradually take place. She quickly broke the ties that bound her to her friends, her colleagues, but also her brothers and sisters to whom she was particularly close, in particular her sister Fadila.

Far from being a simple deliberate life choice, this sudden change was accompanied by particularly visible changes in his personality and his living conditions .

As such, many relatives describe a loss of joie de vivre, a “depressive, extinguished and withdrawn” personality , subject to anxiety, such descriptions contrasting radically with the playful, cheerful and fulfilled character described by the members of his family. and his intimate surroundings.

These also describe marks of influence and domination exercised over her by her spouse. Several relatives thus testify that the latter was an obstacle to maintaining his relations with his family and restricted his financial independence . Her sister Fadila thus evokes her visible weight loss, which Odile explained by the fact that her husband gave her “only two euros to eat lunch” .

Ms. Nasri’s suicidal act therefore comes at the end of 10 years marked by suffering visible to all and isolation resulting from a situation of marked influence.

The last days of Odile are on this point of a nature to worry. After several years of no relationship with her sisters, Odile wrote to them, on December 17, 2020, an email entitled “encounter – too late or a chance” . She offers them to meet again, saying “if you don’t want to anymore, that’s life… if you find that it won’t bring you anything, that’s life…”

The meeting will take place on December 30, 2020 in Montpellier, Odile then making remarks marked, according to her sister Fadila, by the following elements:

  • self-blame for being the cause of her husband’s misfortune;
  • dark thoughts and anxieties;
  • self-disparagement;
  • regrets having left Montpellier to please her husband.

On December 31, Odile returned to the marital home and arrived at her destination at 12 p.m. It appears from the elements brought to the attention of Odile’s brothers and sisters that a very strong tension was felt as soon as she returned to the apartment.

The circumstances in which Odile attempted her life and the clear link between her action and a lasting situation of suffering, in the same way as the total absence of empathy shown by her husband after his disappearance , led his brothers and sisters to file a complaint on June 1, 2021 with the Toulon Public Prosecutor’s Office for moral harassment leading to suicide.
