Maëlle was a 14-year-old girl who committed suicide on January 31, 2020 following school harassment and the posting of sexual images and videos on social networks. One of the authors, aged 16, admits having broadcast a video of the young naked victim “for revenge” . He himself had requested videos from Maëlle and had posted them on Snapchat and other websites. He had also sent images to other people. Other young people at her school had informed Maëlle, who panicked at the rapid spread of the images . In a video left to his parents to explain his gesture, Maëlle describes the situation as being unbearable for him. The intimate video had been circulating on social networks for two months. Her mother learned all this after the death of her daughter .

The suspects are four in number and are prosecuted for inhuman treatment with the aggravating circumstances of having caused death without intending to give it, harassment, voyeurism for minors under 16 years of age and possession and dissemination of images to child pornography . A teenage girl was sentenced to 120 hours of educational service and/or community service. The other suspects are still awaiting trial.
